Questions for the Students

REPORTING

Describe in detail the whole separation procedure and explain why each step was made. Draw a separation procedure scheme. Draw the alpha spectrum and determine the number of counts in both alpha peaks. Since the amount of 209Po added is known, the concentration of 210Po in the sample can be calculated. Give the result as Bq/g dry weight, and calculate the uncertainty of the uncertainty. Calculate also the chemical yield of the separation process.

Here the safety aspects of the exercises should be written. Because of the different rules in different countries this will probably never be correct for every user. It should at least contain HMDS for the chemical compounds used or relevant links to used equipment.
